You May Now Refer to Me as “The Master”

Graduates tossing their hats into the air

You get extra cool points if you knew that was a Doctor Who reference 😉

You’ve probably noticed there haven’t been many posts over the past couple of weeks. That’s because I was finishing up my master’s degree. I am now officially done!

I started this degree program the same month I transitioned from being a classroom teacher to an Educational Technology Trainer. It was a fresh start all around for me, and it turned into a three year journey that included not only a new job in a new district, but also a new baby and a new house, and all the challenges that go along with them.

I had planned to finish in 14 months by taking multiple classes at once, but quickly realized I had bitten off more than I could chew. That was back before I had the baby. Once she came along, things slowed to a crawl. Even so, other than taking off the summer semester to give birth and recover, I kept going. Progress was progress, even if it was just one class at a time.

Now, here I am three years later, and I’m finally done. My brain still hasn’t quite processed it yet; it doesn’t know what to do with the down time. Every time I have a free moment, I keep thinking that I should be working on homework…but I don’t have any!

It’s a wonderful feeling.

Now that I have more time, I’ll be able to post more frequently and add new episodes to the podcast. They don’t do summer commencement, so I have to wait until December to walk the stage.

It’ll be worth the wait. Here’s to starting the next chapter of life!
